Among the design challenges was the need to create a solution for a 14,000 square feet facility without causing the building to be out of scale with it&apos;s surroundings. The Montessori Academy at Belmont Greene wanted their building to be a friendly and inviting place for children. The layout is focused on the Montessori teaching concept with creative spaces and effective circulation in mind. These concerns are carried through the entire project from the parking lot to the playground. Due to the capability of the existing building and construction logistics, a light weight construction system was proposed. This allowed the design to build in a decorative nature while incorporating the original design.
